
Within the program “Osnazeni mladi za jace drustvo” (Empowered young people for a stronger society), supported by the International Republican Institute (IRI), a two-day training with a topic “Mladi u akciji – Aktivni gradjani” was held on Saturday and Sunday, 2nd and 3rd of November.

The training gathered 25 young people, representatives of three high schools, a Youth club, Youth Council and Office for youth aimed at empowering young people to contribute to positive changes, strengthening of social cohesion and solving problems that young people are facing on the local community level.

During the training, the participants had an opportunity through interactive workshops to deal with the issues of active citizens, identity and culture effect, intercultural dialogue and power of assumptions, relationship between local and global communities, understanding of conflict, dialogue and power within the community.

One of the goals of the program is also to provide networking of individuals, organizations and institutions, but also to support cross-sector cooperation, in order to improve the level of social inclusion, social development and community resilience to conflict.

The program promotes social development led by the community through building trust inside and between the communities and key actors. It motivates members of the community to take responsibility for their social needs providing them with the knowledge, skills, experience and networking they need.

Next training will be organized on 11th and 12th of November regarding advocacy and community building, after which the young people will get the chance to realize one of the planned social actions within the mini grant financed by CEPS. At the end of the project, we planned creating a one-year action plan in accordance with the needs of young people from Berane and providing mentorship support for their further activities on the plan realization.
